Rituals to Return Home

On Sunday, 21 June, the Northern Hemisphere celebrated the Summer Solstice — the longest day and shortest night of the year, marking the beginning of summer. At the same time, in the Southern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice ushered in the start of winter and the longest night of the year.

The Summer Solstice is the moment when the Earth tilts toward the sun at its maximum and the sun reaches the crown of the sky. The season turns as light, energy, and life force rise to their peak. Unlike the Spring Equinox, which symbolises fresh beginnings, the Summer Solstice is a pause — a moment for gratitude and for returning home to ourselves. Even though the day has passed, we can still honour this turning point with simple, grounding rituals.

Sun Salutations

Wake up at sunrise and move through a few rounds of Sun Salutations in yoga. If that’s not your style, simply step outside barefoot at sunrise. Ground into the earth, bathe in the first light, and breathe in life before your day begins. Never forget to spritz Morlinka’s mist to gently elevate your morning!

Chase the Light!

Make the most of sunny days. Spend time outdoors when the sunlight is soft and friendly, and think of it as recharging your body, mind, and soul. In the evening, if you can, step outside again. Look up at the sky, gaze at the stars, and offer a quiet moment of gratitude for the abundance in your life.

Nurture in Nature, Nurture for Nature

Summer invites us outside. Let nature hold you: walk barefoot, (literally!) touch the grass, breathe in fresh air, and immerse yourself in natural water whenever possible to reduce stress and reset your system. As nature takes care of us, we’re called to care for nature in return — we are part of it. Plant and grow something, be mindful of what you consume and what you waste, or find any simple act that helps you give back.

Mid-Year Momentum

Use this seasonal threshold as a mid-year check-in. Reflect on your journey so far and journal about it: your wins, your growth, the areas you’d like to improve, and your next steps forward. You don’t need to rush into action. Instead, treat this reflection as a gentle pivot point — a way to keep your inner momentum alive.

Force of Fire

Gather with loved ones and light a campfire outdoors. Sit close to the ground, soak in the silence or the shared togetherness, and simply be present. If you’re indoors, you can still work with fire’s energy by lighting a candle while you meditate, journal, give thanks, or rest in quiet. You might also write down what you’re ready to release from your life, then offer it to the flame as a symbol of letting go and beginning again. Morlinka’s candles make beautiful companions for this ritual.

Remember: whatever reaches its peak will eventually recede — that is the rhythm of life. Let the Summer Solstice be a reminder to be present while the light is bright, and to come home to your inner self whenever you can. As you return to that inner home, take Morlinka with you.
