Mindful Rituals for the New Moon

A New Moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, when the moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, causing its illuminated side to face away from us while the shadowed side faces the Earth. In Balinese culture, the new moon is known as tilem and is traditionally observed through rituals such as cleansing and purification, temple ceremonies, prayers, and self-reflection. The darkness of the new moon symbolises the unseen and represents a blank slate. It is a time to rest, reset, and manifest.
You can easily begin your own New Moon ritual with Morlinka by following these simple, mindful steps.
Tidy your space and clear the air by burning incense, palo santo, or sage. You can also spritz your space with Morlinka mist of your choice.
Take a few deep breaths, sit in silence, or meditate and allow the stillness of the dark moon to calm your mind. Light "Hold Your Ground" or "The Light Within" from the Morlinka candles to support the moment.
Write down or draw what you want to cultivate in the next month in your journal using the present tense. Read it to yourself and visualise it coming to you.
Keep your written intentions or visual board under or beside a crystal, and place it somewhere visible in your space as you work towards your goals daily. Some options of crystals for this moment of manifestation would be Moonstone, Labradorite, Clear Quartz, or Citrine. For an added touch of scent, place a Morlinka wax tablet next to it.
To deepen your practice, you can also cleanse yourself by taking a bath infused with herbs, essential oils, or bath salts. Then, you can close the ritual by drawing some tarot or oracle cards. Start simply and let your practice evolve naturally over time, with Morlinka as your ritual companion.
The next New Moon falls on June 15, 2026, and it will be a Super New Moon, when the moon is positioned especially close to the Earth.
